David Carpenter Obituary

David Alva Carpenter, 60, of Coshocton passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 4, 1963 in Columbus to the late Max Carpenter and Mary S. (Pasters) Carpenter, who survives. He graduated from Shenandoah High School and entered the work force with a passion to help the deaf and hard of hearing community. He worked at a Deaf Service Center, serving the hearing impaired as a job placement coach. In his free time, he enjoyed and appreciated many things about nature. He admired the flowers and loved landscaping, he hiked and took care of the animals in his small animal farm. He was very creative and an excellent carpenter, making unique and one-of-a-kind pieces. You could find him tinkering in his garage on a project building something for friends and family. He enjoyed reading books including his bible and daily devotion along with researching his family's history. He was also a pastor and Sunday school teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing church at the Grace United Methodist Church.
Along with his mother, he is survived by his wife of 20 years, Vickie (Elkins) Carpenter; daughter, Nikki (Trent) Cochenour; step-children, Danielle (Patrick) Grady and Derrick (Nicole) Dragovich; grandchildren, Kylien and Makinzee Cochenour; siblings, Jeff Carpenter of Senecaville, Paul Carpenter of Senecaville and Jill (Tim) Eagon of Quaker City as well as several nieces and one nephew and his three cats, Ralphie, Leela and Okie.
He is preceded in death by father, Max Carpenter and his grandmother, Helen Franklyn.
Calling hours will be at The Miller Funeral Home on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 11am to 1pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 1pm with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Quaker City.
