Arnel Prater

December 31, 1934 — May 10, 2014

Arnel Prater, 79 of Coshocton went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday May 10, 2014 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville.

Arnel was born in Pike County, Kentucky on December 31, 1934 to the late Hupper and Susie (Endicott) Prater.  He attended Plainfield High School, worked in construction and in underground coal mining.  Arnel had retired from Metropolitan Housing in Coshocton as a maintenance man after 10 years of service.  He was a member of the Coshocton Church of the Nazarene.

Arnel is survived by his wife of 57 years Arrea M. (Touvell) Prater; a son Rodney (Sandra) Ridenbaugh of Plainfield; two daughters Melody (Bill) Maple of West Lafayette and Tracy (Craig) Williams of Chattanooga, TN; four grandchildren Jesse (Ginger) Maple, Lonnie (Danielle) Ridenbaugh, William (Jennifer) Maple and Natalie Ridenbaugh; eleven great grandchildren; three brothers Julius Prater of Pataskala, Hoy (Dolly) Prater of Plainfield and Monty (Jane) Prater of Conesville; one sister Ruby (Charles) Barnes of Lancaster; several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Ralph and Luther Prater and a sister Ruth McCoy.

Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Wednesday May 14, 2014 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Larry Lain and Pastor Steve Young officiating.  Interment will follow in Fairfield Cemetery, West Lafayette.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Coshocton Church of the Nazarene, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
