Betty E. Frye, born on March 13, 1926, in Wooster, Ohio, gracefully journeyed through life until her passing on October 26, 2024, in Plainfield, Ohio.
Betty was more than just a name; she embodied a spirit of unwavering dedication, warmth, and a deep love for her family and community.
She spent her entire life nurturing the family farm in Plainfield, a testament to her hard-working nature. Drawing from her education, having graduated from Wooster High School and furthering her studies with three years at Ohio Wesleyan University before completing her nursing degree at Case Western, although Betty was a Registered Nurse, she was a devoted farmer’s wife and an extraordinary mother.
Betty’s personality was a beautiful blend of determination and kindness. She raised four children, Sharon (Jim) Ellis of Plainfield, Paul R. (Myong) Frye of St. Pauls, NC, Michael D. Frye of Plainfield, and Larry A. (Debby) Frye of Plainfield, with a love that will forever be cherished. Her generosity extended beyond her immediate family; she took great pride in her five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, nurturing them with the same care and compassion that defined her life. Her legacy is interwoven with the joy she brought to the lives of those around her.
A beacon of hope and support, Betty dedicated much of her time to the American Cancer Society, actively contributing to the fight against this disease. Her commitment to helping others in their time of need was just one of the many ways she showcased her caring heart and strength of character.
Betty joins her beloved husband, I. David Frye, her grandson, Cory A. Ellis, parents Glenn W. and Zuilla (Shook) Way, and son-in-law Jim Ellis in eternal rest, alongside her brothers, Alton Way and Dwight Way. They welcomed her with open arms, and their memories will forever remain intertwined with hers.
Betty E. Frye leaves behind a legacy that extends beyond her accomplishments; it encompasses the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the warmth of her wonderful spirit. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, who all carry a piece of her heart within their own. In the fabric of their lives, she will forever be woven as a shining thread of love, resilience, and unwavering dedication.
Per Betty’s wishes, a cremation will take place, and a family memorial service will be held on the family farm at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice & Palliative Care, 713 Forest Ave., Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
