Charles L. "Charlie" Deffenbaugh, 71, of Fresno, died Friday, May 11, 2012 at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer. Charlie was born January 12, 1941 in Canal Louisville, Ohio, the son of the late Wesley Edmond and Bessie M. (Monlux) Deffenbaugh. He graduated from Fresno High School in 1959. He worked for Baird Supply and St. Regis Paper Co. before going into the excavating business, retiring in 2010. He was crazy about baseball and played on a league for many years. He and two friends were instrumental in the new sports complex at Lake Park. Charlie also loved to watch basketball and football. Survived by his wife Karen Deffenbaugh whom he married on February 14, 2004; children Larry Deffenbaugh of Coshocton, Julie Deffenbaugh Sells of Coshocton, Heather ( Danny) Wright, Scott (Mandy) Hayes, and Willie (Ashley Mardis) Hayes all of Fresno; grandchildren Amber Dawn, Heather Lynn Sells, Brandon Roberson, Elizabeth Lintz, Kevin Lintz, Brice Hayes, Allie Dobson, Nicole, Nicholas and Taylor Hayes; sisters Marie Brush of Fresno and Elizabeth Morris of Zoar; brothers Wesley (Gloria) Deffenbaugh, Raymond (Ann) Deffenbaugh, and John (Helen) Deffenbaugh of all of Fresno; mother in law Anne Marks of West Lafayette; sisters in law Diana Good of West Lafayette and Grace (Rick) Wiggins of Coshocton; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Julie Hayes; brother in law Mike Good, sister in law Penny Marks and father in law Red Marks. Friends and family may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Monday May 14, 2012 from 4-7 PM and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 PM with Pastor Charles Michaels officiating. Burial will follow in Coshocton County Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Charlie's family to help defray funeral expenses, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
