Charles "Bud" Mitchell

Charles “Bud” Mitchell, 85, of Dresden passed away at the Helen Purcell Home in Zanesville on Saturday November 2, 2013.

Bud was born in Dresden on May 24, 1928 to the late Charles and Ruth (Wallace) Mitchell.

He graduated from Jefferson High School and served in the United States Navy and Marines.  Bud was the owner/operator of Dresden Lumber Yard, Tri-Valley Energy and Mitchell Builders having built over one hundred homes in Coshocton on Walnut Street and Adams Street.  He was also a member of the Dresden United Methodist Church and Charles M. Mitchell American Legion Post in Dresden.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  One of his true enjoyments was following and supporting his grandchildren on the basketball courts, baseball fields and golf courses.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years Carol J. (Ames) Mitchell who he married December 6, 1952; a son Mitch (Valerie) Mitchell of Dresden; daughter Jody (Denny) Bryan of Zanesville; a sister Maxine Makboulian of Tustin, CA; daughter in law Holly Mitchell of Canada; seven grandchildren Ashley Mitchell, Nick and Chad Bryan, Levi, Jed, Justice, Shaddai Mitchell; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Bud is preceded in death by his son Kim Mitchell who passed away October 5, 2011; daughter Amy Jo Mitchell; sisters Vivian (Bob) Matthew, Mildred “Poots” (Al) Mattingly, Gloria “Whiss” (Paul) Dobson and Jane (Mac) Dickerson.

Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Monday November 4, 2013 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday at the church.  Funeral services for Bud will be held at the Dresden United Methodist Church, 1014 Main St., Dresden on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Greg Inboden and Pastor Rob Turner officiating.  Interment will follow in Dresden Cemetery where military honors will be observed.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and/or the Salvation Army, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
