Clayton “Clay” A. Sturtz, 18, of New Concord passed away on October 21, 2014.
Clay was born in Zanesville, Ohio on February 23, 1996.
He is a 2014 graduate of John Glenn High School. He loved spending time with his family and friends, playing his guitar and listening to music. Clay was an excellent all around athlete, playing many sports throughout his childhood. He was a Captain of the John Glenn Basketball Team and was known as “Mr. Positive.”, he was part of one of the only two John Glenn Basketball teams in history to make it to the Regional Finals.
Clay is survived by his parents Jamey (Penny) Sturtz of Norwich and Betty A. (Randy Hall) Gwinn of Coshocton; two brothers Colton Sturtz of Coshocton and Brandon Vickers of CA; grandparents Barb Sturtz of Coshocton, Nancy (Greg) Norris of Apple Valley, OH and Gary (Kathy) Frazee of TN; step sister Kristen (Deric) Wilson of HI; two step brothers Justin (Allison) Lowe of Nashport and William Chipps of Norwich; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Clay is preceded in death by his grandfather James Sturtz.
Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home Friday October 24, 2014 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and on Saturday from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Funeral services for Clay will begin at the funeral home on Saturday at 12:00 PM Noon with Pastor Jason Diaz officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the John Glenn Basketball Boosters, 13115 John Glenn School Rd., New Concord, Ohio 43762, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
