Biography
Clyde R. Zimmer, 89, of West Lafayette passed away at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital on Saturday October 20, 2012.
Clyde was born in Franklin Township on September 15, 1923 to the late Charles J. and Nora F. (Kaufman) Zimmer. He graduated from West Lafayette High School, worked in farming in his earlier years, was a pilot and flight instructor and retired from American Electric Power Conesville Plant. Clyde was also a member of the West Layette United Methodist Church, West Lafayette Masonic Lodge, the Grange and West Lafayette Rotary Club where he maintained his perfect attendance.
He is survived by his wife Ruth L. (Guthrie) Zimmer whom he married in 1944; children David M. Zimmer of West Layette and Ellen A. (Jerry) Thomas of Coshocton; grandchildren Jeff (Tammy) Zimmer of West Lafayette and Jeremy (Megan) Thomas of Indianapolis, IN; great grandchildren Alexis, Logan, Sophia and Adalyn.
Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Wednesday October 24, 2012 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM with Masonic services to begin at 8:00 PM. Funeral services for Clyde will be at the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Sue Chidley officiating. Interment will follow in Fairfield Cemetery, West Lafayette. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
