David Lee Hood

September 29, 1932 — December 1, 2017

David Lee Hood, 85, went to be with our Lord and Savior on December 1, 2017 after a recent diagnosis of acute Myeloid Leukemia.

David was born on September 29, 1932 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Orville & Hilda (Kokensparger) Hood.  He graduated in 1950 from Frazeysburg High School.

David retired from Owens Corning in 1989 after 39 years.  He served 20 years in the US Navy Reserves, worked for Jackson Township where he proudly cared for the cemeteries.  He also managed the Dillon State Campground Commissary for 7 years.

He belonged to Masonic Lodge #490, Frazeysburg Lions Club & Veterans.  He was a member of the Frazyesburg United Methodist Church where he served on many committees.  David enjoyed watching NASCAR, History and Discovery Channels, and all activities involving grandchildren!  David loved eating pretzels and passing out red and white sweet mints to his nurses, doctors, valet workers, family and friends.

David is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Yvonne; devoted children Leslie (Mike) Bebout of Coshocton, Donald  (Robin) Hood of Frazeysburg & Ida (Bob) Lewis of Nashport; sisters Janet Wieber of Newark & Sharon (Clarence) Fracker of Frazeysburg; 12 grandchildren Chad (Angelina) Bebout, Valerie (Matt) Miller, Derrick (Amy) Hood, Dustan (Casey) Hood, Heidi (Van) Adams, Angie (Dennis) Summers, Traci Liggett, Jared Hood, Katelyn (Lemar) Coats, Tayler (Derek) Hoge, Logan and Landon Lewis; 21 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins & 3 beloved cats, Baby, Precious & Snooks.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers Ted Hood & Duane Hood; two sisters Marian Westbrook and Eunice Essig.

David gave himself as a gift to medical research by donating his body to The Ohio State University Division of Anatomy in Colulmbus.

Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Thursday December 7, 2017 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM where a memorial service will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor Jeff Belt & Pastor Robert Mesnard officiating.  Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard will also be performing military honors and Masonic services will begin at 1:00 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio and/or Frazeysburg United Methodist Church; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
