Doris "Mickey" May (West) Colton

May 19, 1922 — November 11, 2017

Doris May “Mickey” (West) Colton, 95, passed away from the home of her daughter Julia in Fresno, Ohio, with the angels, family and friends gathered at her bedside.  Mickey made her accent to go home to be with our Heavenly Father her “Shepherd” on Saturday November 11, 2017.

Mickey had a love and zest for this life that was un-measureable.  95 years of laughter, wisdom, and advice, but most importantly love.  She was born to the late Walter “Mick” and Harvella (Adams) West on May 19, 1922.  She is preceded in death by two brothers Walter James and Harold West; two former husbands Richard Addy and Gary Colton.

Continuing Mickey’s legacy are her daughter Julia (Brian) Brown of Fresno; two grandchildren her “Sweet Boy” Austin Brown and “Sugar Cookie” Autumn Brown.

Mickey was a lifelong resident of West Lafayette, Ohio graduating from West Lafayette High School in 1940 and retiring after a combined total of 54 years of service from Moore Enameling, Jones Metal and Jones Zylon respectively.  She was a lifelong member of West Lafayette United Methodist Church and the Eastern Stars.  Mickey was a charter member of the West Lafayette Junior Guild Club and helped found the Janusian Club.  She also served for many years on the West Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and enjoyed all of her many friends in her beloved Hausey Card Club over the years.

If there is a lesson to be absorbed from Mickey’s 95 years it would be this-love generously, be kind and though the body may be old and broken-one’s heart, mind and spirit are forever young.
