Eugene C Ames Sr.

April 9, 1941 - June 29, 2011

Eugene C. "Gene" Ames Sr., 70, of Coshocton, passed away at Grant Medical Center on June 29, 2011 after a short illness. Gene was born in Coshocton County on April 9, 1941 to the late Clarence E. and Florence I. (Eberwine) Ames. He retired from General Electric, Coshocton after 37 years of service as a maintenance technician. Gene was a life member of the Harley Owners Group and the American Motorcycle Association, also a member of the Coshocton Elks Lodge, Coshocton Eagles and Moose Lodge, Coshocton County Antique Tractors Association and the Dresden Old Steam and Gas Club. He is survived by his wife Suzanne Geib Ames, whom he married on May 30, 1997; children Eugene (Leigh Ann) Ames Jr. of West Lafayette, Eric (Linda) Ames of Coshocton, Raymond (Ellen) Hardesty of Coshocton and Deryl E. Ames of Parma, OH; 10 grandchildren; a sister Norma (Jerry) Maurer of Avon Lake, OH and several close friends. Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Saturday July 2, 2011 from 12-2 PM where funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM with Pastor Rod Uhlig, Pastor Larry Massie and Pastor Don Dolick officiating. Interment will follow in Coshocton County Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to Coshocton Helping Hands and/or Dresden Old Steam and Gas Club, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
