Wilbur E. "Gene" Durben, 74, of Warsaw passed away at his home with his family by his side on Saturday September 17, 2011. Gene was born in Cambridge on October 30, 1936, the son of the late Leonard and Virginia (Knox) Durben. He moved to Coshocton during his high school years and graduated from Coshocton High School in 1954. After high school, Gene joined the Navy and served his country for four years during the Korean Conflict. After coming home, he joined his father's business of small engine repair. Gene owned and operated the Electric Motor Repair Shop in the rear of N. 10th St., Coshocton for many years. Gene was a member of the Coshocton Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge and the Coshocton Sportsman Club where he co-instructed the hunter safety classes for several years. He loved to hunt and go on fishing trips to Canada. Gene loved to go on rides in the country with no destination, just fill er up and go. Survived by his son Dave (Joan) Durben of Coshocton; step daughters Kathy (Terry) Balo of Conesville and Raejean (Mark) Mills of Walhonding; step son Mike (Gloria) Mosholder of New Castle; special sister Martha Ann "Belle" Lacy of Dresden and nephew Rick Lacy of Dresden were close to his heart; grandchildren Cory and Nathan Durben; step grandchildren Bryen and Jeremiah Johnson, Deena (Jeremy) Willis, Kurt (Rose) Mills, Matt (Kim) Mills and Denise (Ronnie) Geog, Brian (Shannon) Mosholder, Eddie (Carrie) Mosholder, Michelle (Robbie) Dorsey; Gene resided in Warsaw with his companion and sweetheart Polly Gildow and Gene will be remembered by her family Kirk (Paula) Gildow, Kristina Fitzpatrick and Kathie (Shane) Hendershot; grandchildren Ryan, Andy, Kyle, Shalene and Devon; great grandchildren would always bring grins and giggles to him. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wives Rita Beam and Jean Mosholder. Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St. Coshocton on Tuesday from 6-8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Coshocton Elks and Coshocton Moose services will begin at 8:00 PM on Tuesday. Funeral services for Gene will be held on Wednesday September 21, 2011 at 11:00 with Pastor Steve Young officiating. Interment will follow in Coshocton County Memorial Gardens with the Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard performing military honors.
