Gertie D. Mccune

Gertrude D. “Gertie” McCune, 81, of Plainfield passed away at The Ohio State University East Hospital on Wednesday August 13, 2014.

Gertie was born in Tyndall, Ohio on December 22, 1932 to the late David and Carrie B. (Shaffer) Dunfee.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Gertie was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church, had worked at The Bokay Shoppe, loved spending time with her family, visiting the Coshocton Senior Center, was a caregiver to many, watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, enjoyed arts and crafts, line dancing and her special canine companion Jodi Belle.  On December 8, 1951 she married Robert L. McCune at the Coshocton Presbyterian Church; Robert preceded her in death on June 20, 1991.

Gertie is survived by her two sons Steven R. (Ronda) McCune of Plainfield and Kevin R. (Cynthia) McCune of Gahanna, including Thomas L. (Debra) Brill of Plainfield; seven grandchildren Tracy Wentz of Plainfield, Travis (Teri) Brill of West Lafayette, Shannon (Ryan) Vernon of Adamsville, Shawn McCune of Plainfield, Tiffany (Eric) Medley of Plainfield, John R. McCune of Gahanna and Tim McCune of Gahanna; sixteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters Geneva Stubbs, Leona Davis, Eleanor Schindler and Mary Dickerson; brothers David A. Dunfee and James W. Dunfee; one great grandchild.

Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Sunday August 17, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 a.m., Reverend Paul Gerycz officiating.  Interment will follow in Plainfield Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, or the charity of donor’s choice, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
