Helen L. Fitzgerald, 93, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019 at Lafayette Pointe Care Center. She was born in Detroit, MI on January 16, 1926 to the late Benton and Delores Brillhart.
Helen had four siblings; Harold, Shirley, Lucille, and Wallace. The family moved from Michigan to an area called “Shelhorn Place” between Rock Ridge and Blissfield, where she would graduate from Warsaw High School in 1944. Helen worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company during WW2 and later worked at Moore Enameling, where she met her future husband Kenneth Fitzgerald. They married after a two-year courtship on Dec. 8, 1946. Helen then attended Riggs-LaMar Cosmetology School and completed 1000 hours of training, but never worked in the business. She took a job with Edmont Manufacturing in 1951 and worked there for 36 years. She was a Sewing Supervisor of 300 employees and traveled to places like Mt. Vernon, Tarboro, NC and Barbados to train employees for the company. Helen enjoyed watching sports, but she especially loved rooting for the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians.
Helen is survived by her two children, Mark Fitzgerald of Coshocton and Marlene (Dave) Wolfe of Newark; grandchildren David Wolfe, Julie (Justin) Miltimore, and Jenifer (Eric) Jenson; great-grandchildren Seth Miltimore, Hanna (Luke) Walker and Mara (Noah) Fogg; great-great-grandchildren Kate, Nora and Olive.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her parents Delores and Benton, and all four of her siblings.
Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Thursday September 12, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00PM to 8:00PM as well as one hour prior to the service on Friday. Funeral services for Helen will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00AM with Pastor Tim McCullum officiating. Interment will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Grace United Methodist Church and/or Community Hospice of Coshocton; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
