Helen Rose Shaw, 94, of Coshocton passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Altercare of Coshocton. She was born on March 18, 1929 in Coshocton to the late John and Lucy (Boyer) Lahna. On June 23, 1951, she married Harold R. Shaw, who passed away in 2013. She was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She loved to sew and made most of her children’s clothes as they were growing up. She enjoyed shopping, reading romance books, hand embroidery, crocheting, doing word searches, and playing cards. She loved camping with her husband Harold and had many wonderful memories of camping with family and friends. They were members of the Coshocton Campers Club.
She especially loved quilting and spent many hours of sharing ideas and fabric shopping. Her love of quilt making was also passing the quilts to family and friends. She donated many quilts to Stitching Sisters, Heartbeat, and Pregnancy Center of Coshocton.
Helen is survived by her six children, Marcia (James) Bush of Coshocton, Jerry (Cynthia) Shaw of Coshocton, Nancy (Robert) Bolin of Scottsdale, AZ, Janice (Jeffrey) Marlatt of Zanesville, Holly (Jack) Marlatt of Cambridge and Michael (Anne) Shaw of Pataskala; seven grandchildren Christie (John) Boyd, Ryan (James King) Marlatt, Sarah (Chip) Udischas, Camela (Andy) Wirick, J.R. Marlatt, Jessica Marlatt and Zackery (Ashley) Marlatt and great grandchildren Faith, Alexis and Freya Udischas, Claire and Lucy Wirick and Rory Marlatt.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Charles Lahna, Jess Lahna, Mary Guinther, Eugene Lahna, Harold Lahna, Esther Hiser, and Rita Myers.
Calling hours will be at The Miller Funeral Home on Tuesday March 28, 2023 from 10 am to 11 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11am with Father Tom Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at the Coshocton County Memory Gardens.
