Hobert "Hobie" W. Yazell

October 17, 1925 — January 5, 2018

Hobert W. “Hobie” Yazell, 92, of West Lafayette passed away at Grant Medical Center in Columbus on Friday January 5, 2018.  He was born in Maysville, KY on October 17, 1925 to the late Hobert A. and Effie (Bobbitt) Yazell

He served in the US Army during WW II under Patton’s 3rd Army where he was awarded numerous medals during the war.  Hobert retired from Pretty Products in Coshocton, was a member of the Victory Assembly of God in Newcomerstown, volunteered at Journey’s End in Newcomerstown and enjoyed participating in the 65th Division Veterans meetings.

Hobert is survived by his three children Diana Cummins of Austin, TX, Debra Chambers of Columbus, OH and Gary (Helen) Yazell of Barboursville, WV; nine grandchildren John (Pam) Cummins Jr., Chad Cummins, Andrea (Tom) Hash, Amber (Randy) Snyder, Tiffany Ingerham, Destiny (Jeff) Crespo, Jason (Carrie) Yazell, Anthony Yazell and Shannon (Joseph) Stephens; fourteen great grandchildren; one great great grandson; a brother Ernest Belcher of Los Angeles, CA; two sisters Betty Yazell of Cincinnati and Loretta Johnson of Los Angeles, CA; numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Madeline R. Yazell whom he married May 10, 1947, Madeline passed away on October 10, 2017; siblings Harold, Juanita, Beulah, Mary, Fern, David, Georgia and James.

Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Thursday January 11, 2018 from 1:00 PM -2:00 PM where a funeral service for Hobert will begin at 2:00 PM with Pastor Brent Heishman officiating.

Interment will follow in Coshocton County Memorial Gardens.
