I. David Frye, 90, of Coshocton passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehab in Newcomerstown. He was born in Akron, Ohio on May 5, 1927 to the late Walter and Esther (Olin) Frye.
The family moved to Wooster when he was two. He graduated from Wooster High School in 1944. After high school he served in the United States Marine Corp from 1945-1948; doing a 2.5 year stint on Guam. On August 13, 1949, he married his wife, Betty E. Way. They then moved to Columbus where he attended the Ohio State University to further his education and graduated in 1952 with a degree in Animal Husbandry. After college they moved to Connecticut, where he worked at Moles Hill Farm as a herdsman from 1953-1958. In March of 1958, he and his family moved to their current address, Oak Hill Farm in Coshocton County. David served on the Ridgewood School Board and County Health Board for many years throughout his lifetime.
David was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers Carl, Richard, Eugene, and Calvin. He is survived by his wife, Betty; one sister Charlotta (Nelson) Burton; four children Sharon (James) Ellis of Coshocton, Paul (Myong) Frye of Hope Mills, North Carolina, Michael and Larry (Debby) Frye both of Coshocton; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours or funeral service for David. Private family services will be held at a later date.
David enjoyed working on his farm, his cattle, and working in the woods. His was a life well lived.
