Life Legacy
Sterl B. "Jake" Melick, 65, of Fresno, ascended into the arms of Big G on Monday July 2, 2012. Jake was born to the late Ellis and Leontine (Frost) Melick of Bladensburg on April 19, 1947. He graduated from East Knox High School and worked in the trucking industry most of his life. Jake had worked for Clow Water Systems, John Hill Trucking, Bill Waters Sr, Laidlaw Trucking, Trans-Service, Baker's Highway Trucking and was presently a Safety Consultant for Hanby Farms, Inc. He was a founding member of Bladensburg EMS, Past President of Coshocton Traffic Club, Lions Club and Coshocton Elks Lodge #376. Jake is survived by his wife Nancy K. (Porteus) Melick, who he married on April 16, 1976; two sons Troy A. (Chelley) Melick of Newark, Edward (Bambi) Zinkon of West Lafayette; two daughters Amy (Kevin) McCoy of Coshocton, Joanna (Kevin) Fillman of Farmville, VA; ten grandchildren; sister Carolyn (Dean) Rine of Bladensburg; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Jake loved nature, life, family, and he never forgot a name or a face, expressions of your memories of him will be welcomed. Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Thursday July 5, 2012 from 2-5 PM and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM with Pastor Don Dolick officiating. Interment will follow in Fairfield Cemetery, West Lafayette. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Health Services of Coshocton/Hospice and/or Roscoe United Methodist Church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
