Life Legacy
James Edward "Dimes" Guinther, 88, of Coshocton passed away at his home on Tuesday June 4, 2013 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jim was born in Coshocton on October 9, 1924 to the late Joseph Raymond and Bessie Marie (Donley) Guinther. He graduated from Keene and Sacred Heart Schools and served in the US Marines Ninth Defense Battalion. He left school early for the war, but received his honorary diploma from Riverview in 2001. Jim was a retired electrician and a life member of the V.F.W and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife Mamie M. (McKay) Guinther whom he married October 9, 1976; sons Charles Joseph Guinther of Coshocton and Larry Edward Guinther of Texas; step sons James A. McKay of FL, Linn A. McKay of NV, Terry McKay of CA and Robert McKay of PA; step daughter Marjorie R. Gurley of CA; two grandsons Shane and Chad; several great grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; a brother John T. Guinther of Coshocton; a sister Joann Guinther of Howard; several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Raymond L., Neal E. and Robert Guinther. Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Friday June 7, 2013 from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM where Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard will perform military honors starting at 11:00 AM.
