James E. Haynes, 88, of Fresno, Ohio passed away at Lafayette Point Nursing Home in West Lafayette, Ohio on Saturday June 2, 2012. Jim was born in West Lafayette, Ohio on March 28, 1924 to the late William L. and Pearl (Moody) Haynes. He served with the US Marines during WWII at Midway Island and retired from General Electric in Coshocton after 39 years of service. Jim was a member of the Fresno United Methodist Church, 29 year member of the Coshocton County Board of Elections, Steelworkers Union #4377 and served on the Trades and Labor Council. He is survived by his loving wife Amy (Hicks) Haynes who he married August 7, 1948; devoted sons J. Bradley (Cathy) Haynes of Coshocton and Brent A. Haynes (Tammy Alverson) of Fresno; grandchildren Ian, Elizabeth, Emily, Baylee and Eliza Haynes, Jordan Vaiea; a sister Margaret Hill of Coshocton; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Susan Haynes Ridenbaugh who passed away December 2002; brothers William, Carl, Ralph and Charles; sisters Anna Miller, Grace Gonter, Alma Dusenberry and Georgia Sulsberger. Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Monday June 4, 2012 from 5-8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mary Owen officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Fresno. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Fresno United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
