Jeannine A (Doss) Gaumer

September 2, 1935 — January 28, 2021

Jeannine A. (Doss) Gaumer, 85, of Newcomerstown passed away at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center on Thursday January 28, 2021.

Jeannine was born in Urbana, Ohio on September 23, 1935 to the late Rev. Donald M. Doss and Eleanor (Lichti) Doss. She married Thomas C. Gaumer in 1951 and they were married 54 year until his death in 2005. Jeannie was a great mother to 9 children and more so an amazing God loving woman who dedicated her entire life to her family and helping others in need. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a very active member of the Newcomerstown Church of Christ and compassionate supporter of various small Church of Christ congregations and ministries all over the world. Jeannine loved traveling, for 13 consecutive years she sponsored and organized trips for her entire family to the Outer Banks. She also enjoyed her many trips to New York City where her late father Rev. Donald M. Doss ministered at Ft. Washington Presbyterian Church and her brother Peter Doss currently resides. Jeannine remained very active into her early 80’s, most notably seen riding her bike throughout Newcomerstown. She was also well known for calling in to WTNS during the morning talk show and regularly writing letters to the editor of local newspapers.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Michael Gaumer, husband Thomas Gaumer, and brother David Doss.

Jeannine is survived by eight of her children, Susan (Ron) Ormand of Eau Claire WI, Bruce Gaumer of Newcomerstown, Connie (Earl) Remy of Coshocton, Chet (Kim) Gaumer of Newcomerstown, Judy (Jack) Duff of Newcomerstown, Marjie (Bill) Hoffman of North Canton, Tim Gaumer of Newcomerstown and Marla (Travis) Morrison of Gilmore, OH; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; two brothers Duane Doss of Atwater, OH and Peter Doss of NYC; numerous nieces and nephews.

Per Jeannine’s wishes, a cremation will take place and her family will have a celebration of life this spring in Birmingham, Ohio.
