Life Legacy
Jerry A. Sycks, 69, of West Lafayette went to be with his Lord at his home on Sunday July 31, 2011 after an extended battle with cancer. Jerry was born to the late Howard A. and Blanche (Davis) Sycks in Coshocton on January 31, 1942. He graduated from Coshocton High School in 1961 and retired from AK Steel in 2002 after 30 years of service. On March 27th, 2002 he married Martha (Honabarger) Sycks who survives; also survived by his sons Jay Sycks of Columbus, Steve (Mary) Sycks of Worcester, MA, Mike (Kristine) Sycks of Southbridge, MA; two daughters Lori Sycks of Columbus and Allison (Hooper) McCoy of West Lafayette; step children Lance Simmons of Zanesville, Jennifer (Paul) Robbins of West Lafayette and Ursula (Travis) Corbett of Newcomerstown; sixteen grandchildren; one great granddaughter; a brother Jim (Sandy) Sycks of Coshocton; sister Linda Whitmeyer of Alexandria, VA; special family member Debbie Simmons of West Lafayette. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Andrew Sycks and a brother in law Richard "Woody" Whitmeyer. Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Thursday August 4, 2011 from 5-8 PM. Funeral services for Jerry will be held on Friday at the funeral home at 10:00 AM with Pastor David Kraft officiating. Interment will follow in South Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Health Services of Coshocton County; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
