John Laverne Shaw

December 11, 1940 — January 29, 2022

John Laverne Shaw, age 81, of Coshocton passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the Coshocton Regional Medical Center. He was born on December 11, 1940, in Coshocton to the late Byel and Ruth (Rigle) Shaw. On June 21, 1985, he married Hazel (Parks) Shaw, who survives. He is a United States Navy Veteran, serving from 1958 to 1961. He then went on to work at Edmonts until his retirement. John was an avid bowler and participated in bowling leagues. He loved fishing and spending time with his friends and family.

Along with his wife, John is survived by his children, Teresa (Jeff) Young of Coshocton, Tony (Mary) Shaw of Connecticut, Terry (Elizabeth) Shaw of Colorado and Warner (Stephen) Shoults of Columbus; grandchildren, Kurt, Amber, May, Terra, Nicole, Samantha, and Stephanie; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bonnie Stein and Russell Shaw as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his grandson, Travis Shaw and siblings, Elizabeth Megness and Leroy Shaw.

Calling hours will be at the Miller Funeral Home on Thursday, February 3, 2022, from 5pm to 7pm. A private funeral service will take place with the family and burial will follow at the Coshocton County Memory Gardens. The Coshocton County Veterans Council will perform military honors.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Legacy Lanes and Lounge, American Cancer Society and The National Kidney Foundation.
