John Siegel

April 10, 1938 — October 24, 2024

John L. Siegel, born on April 10, 1938, in Coshocton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 24th, 2024, in Blissfield, Ohio.

He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, life was marked by hard work, resilience, and an unwavering optimism that inspired all who knew him.

John graduated from Warsaw High School in the class of 1956. After completing his education, he dedicated much of his life to hard labor, working in the coal mines and several machine shops. His industrious spirit led him to become the owner and operator of Riverbend Produce Farm, a venture that allowed him to combine his love for working with his hands and spending time outdoors. Through farming, John nurtured not only the land but also the hearts of his family and community, fostering a deep sense of connection to nature and the cycle of life.

In addition to his professional endeavors, John served his country with honor in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. This period of service instilled in him a strong sense of duty and pride that he carried throughout his life, embodying the values he held dear: strength, confidence, and a heart full of love for those around him.

John's personality was aptly described as that of a hard worker with a good heart. His optimistic outlook provided a sense of comfort to those who sought his guidance and friendship. He was known for his ability to rise to any challenge while maintaining a sense of humor and grace.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn J. (Hawkins) Siegel, his cherished daughter Debra (Donis) Darr of Warsaw, and son Matthew Siegel of Blacklick. John also leaves behind his loving sister Carolie Hothem of West Lafayette. His legacy will continue through his five grandchildren, T.J. (Brittnee) Darr of New Albany, Courtnie (Brandon) Adams of Fresno, Kevin (Shannon) Rochester, Justin (Taylor) Siegel and Kayla (Devin) Luce all of Coshocton. Eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews who will fondly remember the warmth and wisdom he shared.

John was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia "Patty" Siegel, his son Kevin Siegel, and his brother William Gamertsfelder.

While his absence will be profoundly felt, the memories of his laughter, kindness, and steadfast spirit will serve as enduring reminders of the impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him.

As we celebrate the remarkable life of John L. Siegel, we honor a man who dedicated himself to his family, his work, and his community. He will forever be remembered as a beacon of strength and love, whose spirit will continue to guide us in the days to come.
