Joseph Lee "Joe" Hardesty

Joseph Lee Hardesty, affectionately known as Joe, passed away peacefully of natural causes on May 21, 2023, in Zanesville, OH. Born on May 27, 1934, in Frazeysburg, OH, Joe lived a full and vibrant life, touching the lives of many with his wisdom, handiness, and selflessness.

Joe was a beloved family man and is survived by his niece and caregiver, Catherine (Stephen) Butler, daughter Joan Hardesty, son Joseph R. Hardesty (Tami), sister Edith Jeannette Fording, sister-in-law Jacquelyn Miller, and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Anna Louise Gertrude Hardesty, daughter Patricia Hardesty, and parents Joseph W. and Edith Alice (Hostettler) Hardesty.

A proud graduate of Crestwood High School in Mantua, Ohio, Joe went on to have a successful career as a metal finisher for the Ford Motor Company, where he dedicated thirty years of hard work. Joe's strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family were evident throughout his life, as he began working at the young age of twelve.

In his free time, Joe had a passion for gardening and took great pride in his flower and vegetable gardens. He also enjoyed traveling and exploring the open road on his Goldwing motorcycle. A talented woodcarver, Joe's handiwork could be found in the homes of loved ones and throughout the community. Joe's resourcefulness and skill with his hands extended to the construction of his own house, a testament to his determination and perseverance.

Joe found joy in participating in the Garden Club and several Masonic Lodges, where he built lasting friendships and contributed meaningfully to his community. He was a 60-year member of the Irville Masonic Lodge 184. Joe was also a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church.

To know Joe is to love Joe. The family would like to say a special thanks to all the people who helped care for Joe especially Carrie, Destiny, Erica, Rachel, and Savana.

Joe will be remembered by all who knew him for his love and dedication to his family, friends, and community. Joe will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Per Joe's wishes, a cremation will take place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date on the family farm.
