Josephine Hanchak
November 27, 1919 — February 14, 2017
Josephine Hanchak, 97, formerly of Pittsburgh passed away Tuesday February 14, 2017 at The Helen Purcell Home in Zanesville, where she resided for the past five years. She was born on November 27, 1919 to the late Daria (Prewallo) Hanaieff and Semon “Sam” Hanaieff in Pittsburg, PA.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Hanchak; sisters Barbara Evans (2001), Mary Hanaieff (2009) and Lillian Kowal (2013). She is survived by a nephew Phil (Shari) Kowal of Somerset, PA; nieces Jo Ann Turner of Zanesville, OH, Debbie (Dennis) DiLorenzo of Monroeville, PA, and Daria (Dan) Rayburn of Bethel Park; five great nieces and three great nephews; one great great nephew.
Josephine worked a book keeper at H.J. Hienz for 49 years, retiring at the age of 74. She was a member of St. Rosalia’s Parish in Greenfield where a memorial mass will be held at a later date.
