Logan "JR" Burris, went to be with the Lord on January 20, 2025, at the age of 95. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Born on March 13, 1929, in Willard, OH, to Elsie and Logan N. Burris, JR grew up in a home filled with love and strong values. Throughout his 95 years, he remained steadfast in his faith and commitment to his family, his community, and his work.
JR was a devoted husband to C. Jean Hall. On May 27, 1978, JR and Jean were married, and their bond remained unshaken throughout their lives together. Jean stood by his side through every challenge, and their love for each other was a true reflection of JR's unwavering dedication to those he loved.
Together, JR and Jean raised a blended family that he cherished deeply. He was a proud father to Laurie (George) Parton, Christine (Jerry) Unger, Tony Burris, Neatie (Steve) Burris-Taylor, and Tom (Tammy) Burris. He also embraced his role as a stepfather to Rollin (Megan) Matthews, Debra (Kyle) Murray, Jerry (Valorie) Matthews, Rocky (Ray) Matthews-Callahan, and Sheila Reigle. A proud and respected electrician, JR worked with IBEW Local 1105 for more than 40 years. His colleagues admired him for his work ethic, integrity, and dedication to the craft. His pride in his work was matched only by his pride in his family.
A lifelong member of the Nazarene Church in Coshocton, JR's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was deeply committed to his church and the service of others, believing firmly in the power of prayer, family, and community. His faith was an enduring source of strength and inspiration to all who knew him.
Outside of his work and faith, JR was an avid golfer and bowler, always finding joy in the camaraderie of both sports. His competitive spirit and zest for life were contagious, and he relished every opportunity to share a laugh or a friendly game with family and friends.
JR was preceded in death by his parents, Elsie and Logan N. Burris, two brothers, Donnis and Arthur, and two sisters, Pauline Bickle and Betty Miller. He is survived by two sisters, Carol Visser and Sue Matson, along with his children, stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
