Kenneth "Kenny" Ridgeway Pepper, 90 of Conesville went home to the Lord surrounded by his family at 8:00 AM November 4, 2011. Kenny was born Febuary 24, 1921 in Conesville to the late Archie Raymond and Florence Mae (Ridgeway) Pepper. He graduated from Conesville High School in 1940 is a WWII veteran serving in the United States Army. He left home in August of 1942 touring Africa, Sicily, Italy, France, and Germany, returning home in September 1945. He retired from Clow Water Systems in 1985 after 38 years of employment. Kenny was a devoted employee, missing only 3 days of work in 38 years. Kenny was a founding member of the F.C.V. Volunteer Fire Department, which was founded in 1955. He served as fire chief from 1965 to 1985. Kenny assisted on more than 2,500 fire runs over 56 years. He was actively involved in the Conesville Fish Fry since 1958. Kenny was a lifetime member of the Conesville United Methodist Church. He has been a board member as well as helping with the Conesville Church Bazaar for many years. He also served as Franklin Twp. Trustee for 4 years. His hobbies included remodeling, brick laying, woodworking, and other projects that required a hammer and square. He is survived by wife Pauline "Polly" (Slaughter) Pepper whom he married on July 24, 1953; 3 daughters Sherry Aronhalt (Mike Cairati) of Warsaw, Susan (Mike) Hindel Conesville and Shelly (Wes) Sarchet of Frazeysburg; a sister Pauline (Ken) Kohman of Conesville; 11 grandchildren Angie Buckmaster, Jenny (Scott) Collins, Bryan (Renee) Aronhalt, Justin "Buddha" Aronhalt, Britney Hindel (Tom Soles), Josh (Tina) Aronhalt, Tonya (Steve) Slade, Jeremy Aronhalt, Caleb (Heather) Hindel, Draeson Hindel, and Jaiden Aronhalt; 16 great grandchildren, Kaelie Darr, Cody Darr, Austin Buckmaster, John Collins, Bruce Collins, Cassie Aronhalt, Zeke Aronhalt, Mallory Aronhalt, Kaitlyn Soles, Aleasha Soles, Clay Davis, Jacie Aronhalt, Jett Aronhalt, Dakota Slade, Logan Slade, and Lexi Slade; 5 step granchildren, Robert Aronhalt, Steve (Carla) Aronhalt, James W. Aronhalt, Garrison (Holly) Sarchet, Darcey (Troy) Atkinson and families and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Donald Pepper; sisters Margery Rumley and Jaunita Larr; infant sister Eileen Pepper; son in law James E. Aronhalt; mother in law Geneva Slaughter. Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Sunday November 6, 2011 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 AM with Pastor David Fowls and Pastor Joy Blaney officiating. Interment will follow in South Lawn Cemetery where Coshocton County Veterans Council will perform military honors. Memorial Contributions may be given in his honor to Conesville Fire Department and/or Conesville United Methodist Church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
