Kenneth “Kenny” E. Jones, 92, of Coshocton passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. He was born in Coshocton on September 6, 1925 to the late Edward C. and Mary (Haxton) Jones.
He was a graduate of Coshocton High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II, where he was a signalman on the USS Raccoon from January 1944 to January 1946. After the serving his county, he worked at Steel Ceilings, CLOW, Hilltop Golf Course, and Coshocton Recreation. He was a longtime member of Park united Methodist Church, then attended Coshocton Alliance Church. He was also a member of the Coshocton Moose, Eagle, Army-Navy, and VFW. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and woodworking, but his true passion was dancing.
Kenny is survived by his three children Mike (Linda) Jones, Lori (Jeff) Nichols, and Kelly (Joe) Tignor all of Coshocton; grandchildren Andy (Mindee) Jones, Amy (Anthony) Cox, Jenn (Kurt) Knicely, Sarah (Adam) Kenney, and John (Jenna) Tignor; great grandchildren Sydney and Colton Jones, Alison and Aiden Cox, Isabella and Carter Knicely, Alton Kenney, Kara and Jace Tignor and one on the way; sister-in-law Donna Jones; nephew Bob (Janice) Jones; and he leaves behind his dancing partner, Dorothy Nelson.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Courtright) Jones whom he married April 14, 1946. Jean passed away February 7, 2002; brother Richard “Dick” Jones and sister Betty.
Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 11:00am- 1:00pm with funeral services beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor Wesley George officiating. Burial will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens where the Coshocton County Veterans Council will be performing military honors. Following the committal service there will be a time of food and fellowship at the Coshocton Moose Lodge from 3:00pm-5:00pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be directed towards the Coshocton Community Center and/or the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
