Leon E. Holmes, of Coshocton, died on his 83rd birthday on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 in the Inn at Northwood at Dover, Ohio following a period of declining health.
A son of the late Edwin and Margaret (Sherich) Holmes, Leon was born May 12, 1932 at Cameron, West Virginia.
Leon worked as a meat cutter and retired at the age of 65 following 47 years of service. He also enjoyed the country life and especially enjoyed tending to his farm.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy (Haught) Holmes whom he married on March 27, 1968; his children, Joseph, Eugene, Norick and Melvin Holmes and Julie Toland all of the Moundsville, West Virginia area; nine grandchildren and his siblings, Martha Wiseman, Corie (Chuck) Wright, Phyllis Clark and Frank Holmes all of the Moundsville, West Virginia area.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home at Coshocton. A funeral service celebrating Leon’s life will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with burial following in Coshocton County Memory Gardens.
