Lorin Jay Grewell, 73, of Coshocton passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Morrison Hospice House in Zanesville. He was born in Newcomerstown on September 14, 1943 to the late John E. and Hannah (Plants) Grewell.
After graduating from Ridgewood High School, Lorin served in the United States Navy. After the Navy he worked for Peabody Coal Company and later owned G&M Construction. Lorin was a member of the Gideon Church Group and was well known for his ministry work with the local jail inmates.
Lorin is survived by his wife, Roxanne (Hoffman) Grewell, whom he married April 23, 1975; sons Lorin Grewell of New Philadelphia and Ben (Melissa) Grewell of Coshocton; daughters Tonya (Dave) Hayhurst of North Canton, Rachel Grewell of Coshocton, and Amanda (Dave) Newhouse) of Coshocton; siblings Helen Gotshall of Oregon, Alice Morgan of Oklahoma, Mary Campbell of West Lafayette, Thelma (Lewis) St. Clair of Cumberland, Walter (Nancy) Grewell of Coshocton, Victor (Rita) Grewell of West Lafayette, and Richard Grewell of North Carolina 15 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Lorin, is preceded in death by his siblings Earl Grewell, James Grewell, Robert Grewell, Dorothy Courtney, and Tacy Ray; granddaughter Anna Newhouse.
Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Monday January 16, 2017 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM and one hour prior to the funeral service. Funeral services for Lorin will be Tuesday at 11:00AM with Pastor Sonny Easterday officiating. Interment will follow at South Lawn Cemetery where the Coshocton County Veterans Council will be performing military honors.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be directed towards The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton to help defray funeral expenses, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
