Lewis W. “Louie” Keirns, 78, of Coshocton passed away at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital on Sunday July 19, 2015. Louie was born to the late Martin and Ruth V. (Balch) Keirns in Athens County, Ohio on January 28, 1937.
He graduated from Shade High School, served two years in the U.S. Army before starting his working career for Fairmont Foods, Big Bear and delivering the Coshocton Tribune for twenty-one years, having just retired from delivering the paper in January of this year. He was a member of the Coshocton Moose, American Legion and past member and trustee for the Redman Lodge in Athens. Louie was also known as “Pop” to his neighbors and friends, he loved spending time with his family, the outdoors hunting and fishing, watching all sorts of sports, especially baseball and NASCAR.
Louie is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-two years Judith A. “Judy” Keirns who he married on April 29, 1963; his caring three sons Tim (Darcie) Keirns, Steve (Joy) Keirns and Kevin (Andrea) Keirns all of Coshocton; three grandchildren Jonathon (Sarah) Wright, Matthew (Lisa) Wright and Kendle Wynn Keirns; four great-grandchildren Kamren, Miaya, Abigail and Gage Wright; one brother Jack (Helen) Keirns of Athens; sister in law Beverly Keirns of Athens; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Leonard Keirns.
Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Wednesday July 22, 2015 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Funeral services for Louie will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Starkey Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow in Coshocton County Memory Gardens where Coshocton County Veterans Council will perform military honors. Memorial contributions may be directed to Health Services of Coshocton County “Hospice”, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
