Lyndon Adkins

December 8, 1960 — August 16, 2024

Frazeysburg

Lyndon Ray Adkins, 63 of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Friday, August 16th at his home.

Born Dec 8th 1960 in Columbus Ohio, to Elisha and Olive (Dingess) Adkins, he was the only son out of 7 children. As such, growing up he was both protector and tormentor to his 3 older and 3 younger sisters.

A hillbilly at heart and proud of his family’s West Virginia roots, he was an avid hunter, mechanic and could fix or drive anything with wheels or an engine. And like many a country song, he loved his momma more than life. In her later (widowed) years, he moved in with her and took care of her until her death on May 21,2023. (He lost his father to cancer on September 19th, 2007.)

Lyndon’s pride and joy was being ‘Pop’ to his children and their spouses, Renee & DJ Yester, and Mitchell & Nicole Adkins.

Even more special to him was being ‘Pop Pop’ to granddaughters Lexi Yester, Dallace Adkins, Azryelle Yester, Julie Adkins, Bayleigh Adkins, and Chloe Yester.

In addition to his children and grandchildren, Lyndon is survived by his sisters Kennetha Adkins, Robyn Siddle, Deana (Damon) Elizondo, Theresa (Gary) White, Lisa Payne, and Angela Napier.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by brothers-in-law Lee Siddle and Eric Napier,

and Father-in-Law Raymond McElfresh.

Lyndon’s life is perfectly summed up by a poem written by his daughter a few days after he died:

Eyes of the brightest blue, that sparkled when he smiled,

Mouth of a rowdy trucker, when he was really riled.

Permanent stains on his callused hands, that could fix anything with wheels;

Those hands helped shaped my life, and fixed some of my favorite meals.

A stubborn mind that rarely changed, When he determined he was right

He taught me how to pick my battles, And when I was ready, to fight.

He would help anyone in need, With his heart of gold.

He couldn't stand the thought, Of anyone going hungry or cold.

He taught me how to live with my whole heart, And to never hold back anything,

To go after what I want, Because you never know what this life will bring.

He'd lecture me right now and tell me, “Baby Bird, please don't cry.

Don't doubt what you could have done better, and don't dwell on the why.

Just remember the happy times, When you think of me,

I may not be here physically, But in your heart I'll always be."

Per Lyndon’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral. He instructed his children prior to his death that he be cremated. At his request, his ashes will be scattered off the back of his Harley for one last ride.
