Life Legacy


Margaret "Peggy" Porteus, 85, of Coshocton passed away at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital on Monday April 11, 2011. Peggy was born to the late Virgil and Virgie (Stewart) Bucklew in Coshocton on February 24, 1926. She graduated from the Ohio State University with a Bachelor's degree in elementary education. On December 19, 1948 she married John I. Porteus who preceded her in death on March 18, 1990. Peggy was a member of the Burt Ave. Wesleyan Church in Coshocton where she was very involved in many of the church activities. She is survived by her four daughters Susan (Bill) Fleck of Franklin , MA, Ann (Dan) Herman of Loudonville, OH, Mary (Trevor) Johnston of Grove City, OH and Barbara Porteus of Sugarcreek; grandchildren Janet (Adam) Lundgren, Tim, Joyce and Diane Fleck, David, Alissa and Bethany Herman, Andrew and Matthew Johnston. Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother Lewis Bucklew and a sister Ruth Lewis. Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Wednesday April 13, 2011 from 4-7 PM and one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday. Services for Peggy will be at the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Rod Uhlig officiating. Interment will follow in South Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Burt Ave. Wesleyan Church and/or the American Cancer Society; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
