Marilyn was a home economics agent in Fayette County and then taught home economics at Garaway, Ridgewood, and Newcomerstown High Schools. She then spent 23 years at the Coshocton County Career Center as the restaurant operations instructor and FCCLA Advisor and was awarded the LOBO Legend Award. Marilyn was instrumental in teaching her students to operate a restaurant that was open to the public and catered for numerous banquets. In addition, she and her late husband Dean operated a successful dairy farm in which she would often do barn chores before and after school.

Marilyn was a very active member of the Fresno United Methodist Church for the past 60 years, holding several offices within the District United Methodist Women. She was also a lay speaker, past president of the Fresno United Methodist Women’s, past chair of Fresno United Methodist Church Administrator Board, past chair of the banquet fundraiser committee for many years, past chair of the Rural Life Sunday celebration, and was honored as the Fresno Farmer/Farmwife of the Year in 2023. Marilyn served as an officer for 33 years of Keene Alumni Association where she served as president, vice-president, secretary-treasurer, and was awarded the Honored Alumnus Award from the Keene Alumni Association. She served as a past 4-H advisor, Clover Bud advisor, and a key leader for home economics. Marilyn was a 50-year-plus member of Progressive Valley Grange 2433, where she served as master, lecturer, and on various committees. She was also named Ohio Granger of the Year in 2016. She was a member of the Coshocton County Farm Bureau and an Honorary Member of the Ohio FFA Association and Versailles FFA Chapter. For nearly 30 years, she assisted the Versailles FFA Chapter with her cooking and baking abilities at the FFA Banquet and many other food-related events.

Later in life, Marilyn shared her faith and love for others with her greeting card ministry, sending more than 50 cards per month.

Throughout Marilyn’s life, she enjoyed canning, cooking, gardening, helping others through church, grange, and delivering homemade meals and baked goods to various families and friends. Her greatest joy was teaching her children and grandchildren about cooking, baking, farm life, living a Christ-filled life, and sharing her passion to serve others.

The Wyler family would like to thank Barb Banbury, Vicki Legacy, Renee Bishop, Hallie Royer, and Hospice of Central Ohio, especially Julie Lucas and Crystal Freshwater for all the care they provided Marilyn which allowed her to stay within her home.
