Marjorie Lynn (Biggs) Els

January 22, 1937 — May 7, 2024

Marjorie Lynn Els passed away peacefully on May 7, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on January 22, 1937, in Coshocton, Ohio, Marjorie was a lifelong resident who touched the hearts of everyone she met with her loving nature.

Marjorie graduated from Coshocton High School in the class of 1954. Her dedication to community service was evident by her volunteerism for many years with the Coshocton County Crisis Hotline, as well as dedicated librarian at both Coshocton and West Lafayette for twenty-one years.   She visited county schools and community with the bookmobile and lead children’s story time at the libraries as well as WTNS radio.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment, embodied by her beloved husband, Jon M. Els, and her cherished children, Kathy Hardesty of Dresden, Jon F. (Lynn) Els of Warsaw, and Erin (Raymond) Paynter of Dresden. Marjorie was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and a great-grandmother to eight great grandchildren, one step-granddaughter and three step-great grandchildren who delighted in the joys of her family's newest generations, with more great-grandchildren on the way.

Predeceased by her parents, Alvin R. Biggs and Isabelle (Randles) Biggs, sisters Betty Krabill and Jean Lower and brother Alvin Roy “Sonny” Biggs. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and the values she instilled in them will continue to ripple through their lives and the lives of those they touch.

Marjorie's commitment to her community was unwavering. As an active member of the Coshocton Campers Club, West Lafayette United Methodist Church, Pandora Club, Quilting Club, and Canal Quilters, she fostered friendships and built a community that was strengthened by her presence. Her role as a Girl Scout Leader for many years demonstrated her dedication to guiding young minds towards a life of purpose and kindness.

Her hobbies and interests reflected her love for creativity and fellowship. Marjorie's hands were seldom still, as she found joy in the art of quilting, creating pieces that not only warmed the body but also the soul. Her quilts were a tapestry of the love she had for her family and friends, each stitch a testament to her generous spirit.

Marjorie's life was a journey of love, laughter, and service. She met each day with a smile, a kind word, and an open heart. Her legacy is one of enduring love and generosity.

As we bid farewell to Marjorie, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that will forever remain in our hearts. Her memory will be cherished, her lessons remembered, and her spirit will continue to inspire kindness and compassion in all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Marjorie's family takes solace in the knowledge that she lived a full and vibrant life and that she has now found peace in eternal rest. As we reflect on Marjorie's life, we are reminded of the preciousness of each moment and the impact one person can have on so many.
