Mervin “Merv” J. Dixon, age 82, of Coshocton, Ohio, died August 30, 2021 at Signature Healthcare of Coshocton. He was born September 20, 1938 in Carrollton to Mervin Jacob and Mary (Smith) Dixon, Sr.; graduated from Carrollton High School and attended business school; Early in his career, he worked at Carrollton Manufacturing and the Ohio Auditor of State’s Office. Merv was the owner of Dixon Tax Center and Bookkeeping Service for almost 42 years with the help of his great secretaries Karlene Rice and Darlene Williard. He truly loved all his tax and accounting clients and was hoping to do one more tax season. Merv was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed carpentry. He was a member of the Elks and the Eagles.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry Dixon, daughter Danita Dixon, son-in-law Doug Bowling, and step grandson Michael Helmick.
Merv is survived by his loving fiance of 41 years, Jean (Welker) Darr of Coshocton; 2 children, Debby Bowling of Canton and Doug (Shelley) Dixon of Rhome, Texas, Jean’s two daughters he considered his stepdaughters: Julie (Mark) Taylor of Thornville and Jennifer (Jason) Bookless of Coshocton, grandchildren Tiffany (Justin) Hurst of Canton, and Vanessa Moore of Canton, Broc (Emily) Grigsby of Uniontown, Dustin (Kristy) Grigsby of Minerva, step grandsons Alex Taylor of Thornville and Dylan Helmick of Coshocton, nine great grandchildren, ex-wife Jane Dixon of Canton; many other relatives and friends.
Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main Street, Coshocton, OH on Saturday September 4, 2021 from 10:00am- 11:30am with funeral services beginning at 11:30am with Pastor Stan Braxton officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held following the graveside services from 1:00pm – 3:00pm at the Coshocton Elks Lodge, 434 Chestnut St, Coshocton, OH.
