Myriam C. Styer, age 74, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at the Truman Hospice House in New Philadelphia, Ohio.
Myriam was born Myriam Mercedes Monique Carrasco November 2, 1948, in Toulon, France. She was the only daughter of the late Clement Carrasco and Marguerite (Knoery) Carrasco. However, she lived her first 12 years in Oran, Algeria. Myriam was a 1967 graduate of the (High School) Lycee Peiresc in Toulon.
On December 4, 1967, Myriam met Joel Lee Styer, a US NAVY Shore Patrolman while working in her father's Kiosk. After a two-year courtship of mostly letter writing, they were married on January 11, 1969. Myriam registered, applied and was granted an INS Green Card in 1969. She took the test for American Citizenship and became a Naturalized American Citizen at the United States District Court in Cleveland on October 21, 1994.
For many years Myriam was fluent in not only English, but also spoke in French, German, and Spanish!
Myriam worked for Stone Container Corp (later known as Activity Packaging) as an Inspector on the Sewing Line in New Philadelphia, Ohio until she retired in 2006 after 27 years. Myriam loved dogs and owned several breeds in her lifetime. Myriam loved planting, growing and nurturing flower gardens.
Myriam was a wife, mother, grandmother, great Grandmother, and Aunt.
She is survived by her son, Christopher Sean (Bobbi) Styer and daughter, Gabrielle Pascale Styer; 5 grandchildren, Alexis Monique Styer, Cassidy Anna Styer, Devin Michael Weingarth, Brandon Scott Weingarth, Kody James Heston and step-grandson, Cam Hairston; 5 great-grandchildren, Alayna Faye Morrison, Ava Marie Morrison, Wyatt Everett Nay, Wesley Michael Styer, Wayde Lee Styer; sister-in-law, Lori Beth (Mathew) Horvath. Myriam will also be remembered by her nieces and nephews, Ryan (Nicole) Styer, Rebecca (Okey E. Ekechi) Styer, Kaleb (Brook) Horvath, Cheyenne (Jeremy) Burnison, Micah Horvath, and Ty Horvath as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in France.
She was preceded in death by her oldest son Michael James Styer in Sept 02nd 1990 and Brother and Sister-in-Law Linda Maurer Styer on December 23rd,2021 and Daniel Martin Styer on June 12th 2022.
Myriam was Baptized Catholic February 12, 1950 in her local parish PAROISSE DE SAINT -CYPRIEN in Toulon, France.
As per Myriam's request, no public services will be conducted, a private graveside service will take place with close family and friends.
