Nancy K Porteus-Melick

Nancy K. Melick, 67, of Fresno, passed away on Tuesday September 25, 2012. Nancy was born in Coshocton to the late Roy Edward and Matilda J. (Duling) Porteus on November 22, 1944.

She graduated from West Lafayette High School and Kent State University Tuscarawas Nursing Program. She began her career at Southeast Regional Hospital, but spent most of her career at Coshocton Memorial Hospital ER Department where she retired in 2009. Nancy was an avid bowler participating in the Rollerette Bowling League and was a member of the Fresno United Methodist Church.

Nancy is survived by her sons Edward (Bambi) Zinkon of West Lafayette and Troy A. (Chelley) Melick of Newark; daughters Joanna (Kevin) Fillman of Farmville, VA and Amy (Kevin) McCoy of Coshocton; a brother John (Nancy) Porteus of West Lafayette; sisters Jane (Eric) Kreidler of Coshocton and Sue (Tom) Redman of Lancaster, OH; grandchildren Bodie and Madison Wells, Adam and Kelby Fitch, Taylor and Jarred Melick, Collin and Allie McCoy, Ross and Cole Fillman; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Sterl B. "Jake" Melick who passed away on July 2, 2012.

Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Friday September 28, 2012 from 3:00 - 6:00 PM where funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling hours with Pastor Don Dolick officiating. A private graveside committal service will be held at later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Health Services of Coshocton County/Hospice, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
