Peter J Vasilakos

Peter James Vasilakos, 63, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 29th, 2016 at his home in Coshocton, Ohio.  He was born on May 2nd, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio to his late parents, James Alexander and Katherine (Stathis) Vasilakos.  He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1970 and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Education from Ashland University in 1975. While attending Ashland University, Pete excelled as a defensive lineman on the University football team.  Following graduation, he found his calling assisting people with their insurance needs.  He served people in the insurance industry for over 30 years.  Pete recently retired and dedicated his time to his family and health.  He enjoyed long walks and discussing history, politics, and economics. He was a consummate businessman, natural leader, and loving father.  Pete shared his passion for Cleveland athletics with his friends and family.  As a man with a contagious laugh and a disarming smile, Pete combined his pragmatism and zeal for life in all he did.  He always quoted Frank Sinatra in saying “I did it my way.” He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Cyndy Triplitt-Vasilakos, daughter, Katie (Robert) Leadingham, son, Alex Vasilakos, mother-in-law, Jean Y. Triplitt, sister-in-law, Teresa (Tom) Kirker, his lifelong friend, Domenic Pallante, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, George W. Triplitt, Jr., brother-in-law, George “Dub” Triplitt, III., sister-in-law Cheryl and her husband Jim Wantuck. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 805 Main St., Coshocton on Tuesday, May 3rd at 11:00 AM with Father Victor Wesolowski officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Coshocton County Animal Shelter in his name, 21755 TR 164, Coshocton, Ohio  43812.
