Ramona "Mona" Frances (Laforest) Smith

Ramona “Mona” Frances Smith, 95, of Coshocton, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Altercare of Coshocton.  She was born on September 21, 1928 in Piercefield, New York to the late Arthur and Jennie (Dumas) LaForest.  She married Beecher Smith on May 19, 1956, who passed away on July 20, 1994. Mona was a homemaker who enjoyed decorating, dancing, taking walks, and spending time with her best friend Jim.

Mona is survived by her daughters: Brenda Iaquinta of Beresford, SD, and Janell (Guy) Newton of Ocoee, FL; grandchildren, Casey (Rebekah) Clark of Youngsville, NC, Chloe Newton of Ft. Myers, FL, Aimee Boese of Sioux Falls, SD, and Brent Boese of Beresford, SD; great-grandchildren, Ezekiel, Bethany and Naomi Clark; and several nieces and nephews.

Also surviving: brother Arthur (Roxanne) LaForest Jr. of Rome, NY, sister Elizabeth Pritchard of Rochester, NY; and companion and friend of 28 years, James Hack of Coshocton.  Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by sisters, Beatrice Benware and Isma Pritchard; and son-in-law, Brian Boese.

Per her wishes, Mona will be cremated, and a private burial will be held at a future date at South Lawn Cemetery.
