Life Legacy
Rev. James C. Puz, 94, of West Lafayette passed away at the Lafayette Point Nursing Home in West Lafayette on Saturday December 8, 2012.
Rev. James was born in Elwood City, PA on June 26, 1918 to the late John P. and Hilda (Mackey) Puz.
He graduated from Elwood High School and the Reformed Episcopal Seminary in Philadelphia, PA. Rev. James also served in the US Marine Corp prior to World War II. He was the Pastor of the First Baptist Church of West Lafayette from 1974-1981. After retiring in 1981, he continued to serve in the ministry as a "Minister at Large" in eleven churches throughout the United States, after which, he and his wife Ida came home to West Lafayette to retire.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Ida E. (Kerper) Puz of West Lafayette; two devoted children James P. Puz of Durham, NC and Mary E. (Cam) Zarroli of Naples, FL; six grandchildren, Sarah Puz, Mathew Puz, Rebekah Holland, Amy Puz, Jeremy Puz and Kelley McQuade Zarroli; four great grandchildren Janna, Evan, Maya and Natalia; a brother Robert K. Puz. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers John E, and Arthur E. Puz.
Friends may call at the First Baptist Church of West Lafayette, 688 E. Main St., West Lafayette on Friday December 14, 2012 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM where funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM with Pastor David Kraft officiating. Interment will follow in Fairfield Cemetery, West Lafayette where Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard will perform military honors.
Family and friends are invited and welcomed back to the First Baptist Church for a time of food and fellowship directly following the services in the cemetery.
