Richard C. "Rich" Hothem, 54, of Fresno, passed away at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland on Wednesday August 15, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Rich was born in Coshocton on March 30, 1958 to the late Benton and Clara (King) Hothem.

He was a dairy farmer throughout most of his life, a delegate for the Dairy Farmers of America and COBA. He was a member of the Bakersville Fire Department for over 30 years where he was Captain, member of the Bakersville Presbyterian Church, a great community supporter for Bakersville, especially for the annual chicken barbecues. In his spare time, he also enjoyed bowling, and the outdoors, hunting, fishing and boating.

Survived by his three daughters Ashley (Matt) Bordenkircher of Cookeville, TN, Emily Hothem of Coshocton and Melissa Hothem of Sugarcreek; fiance Debbie L. Adams of West Lafayette; brother Gerald (Joy) Hothem of Fresno; granddaughter Madison Bordenkircher; nephew Rick Hothem of Stonecreek; niece Julie Murray of Reynoldsburg; great niece India Miles.

Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Sunday August 19, 2012 from 2-5 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the Bakersville Presbyterian Church, 28164 CR 97, Bakersville with Pastor Peter Mathewson officiating. Interment will follow in Renner's Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Bakersville Fire Department, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
