Richard “Dick” Totsch, 84, of Coshocton passed away at Coshocton Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday August 19, 2015.
Dick was born on December 1, 1930 in Coshocton to the late Walter and Grace (Kaser) Totsch, he and his brother Robert were the first set of twins to be born at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital.
Dick graduated from Coshocton High School and then went on to serve in the US Navy for four years. He retired from General Electric after forty-three years of service where he also served as Vice-President of the United Steel Workers Union for twenty-five years and President for ten years. Dick was a very active member of Grace United Methodist Church throughout his life. Dick was deeply involved in his community, serving on several boards including Coshocton County Chamber of Commerce, Zoning Board and Kno-Ho-Co Community Action Board. He was in the first class ever held for Coshocton County EMS and volunteered at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital.
He loved spending time with his canine companions Chloe and Phoebe.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years Geraldine (Hanks) Totsch whom he married May 8, 1954; a son Mike Totsch of Columbus; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Robert Totsch and a sister Ruth Davis.
Friends may call at Grace United Methodist Church, 422 Walnut St., Coshocton on Monday August 24, 2015 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM where funeral services will begin at 4:00 PM with Rev. Keith Peachey officiating.
A cremation will take place after funeral services and burial of his cremated remains will be held in South Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
