Robert W. “Bill” Hagans, 94, of Coshocton passed away at Sycamore Run Care Center in Millersburg on Wednesday December 20, 2017.
Bill was born on February 3, 1923 in New Castle to the late Joseph and Stella Hagans.
After high school, Bill joined the U.S. Army serving from August 24, 1943 to November 9, 1945, he was a Aerial Gunner on a B-17. Bill’s plane was shot down and he was a P.O.W. for nine months. He was awarded the American Theater and European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbons, two Bronze Stars and most recently the Purple Heart, he was a true American Patriot.
When Bill returned from the war, he married Rose C. (Brown) Hagans on August 25, 1945 who survives. He had owned and operated Rose Well Service for many years; later in life he enjoyed repairing all makes of sewing machines. He was a member of Keene United Methodist Church and the V.F.W..
Bill is survived by his wife Rose; a daughter Joyce Mullett of Coshocton; grandchildren Jeff Mullett, Janell (Brad) Richard, Amy Hagans, Ashley (Darren) Jacobs and Aaron Hagans; ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a son James “Jim” Hagans; three sisters Mabel Brown, Flora Richards and Helen Champagne; one brother Leonard Hagans.
Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Tuesday December 26, 2017 from 5:00 PM -7:00 PM where a Masonic service will begin at 7:00 PM. Funeral services for Bill will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dairel Kaiser officiating. Interment will follow in South Lawn Cemetery with Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard performing military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Coshocton County Veterans Council, 318 Main St., Coshocton, OH 43812, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
