Life Legacy

Robert S. McCormick, 89, of West Lafayette passed away at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday March 21, 2012. Bob was born in Fresno, Ohio on January 10, 1923 to the late French and Erma Jane (McConnell) McCormick. He graduated from Fresno High School, served in the Navy during WWII and retired from General Electric after 36 years of service. On October 27, 1958 he married Agnes C. McCormick who preceded him in death on May 25, 2011. Bob was a member of the West Lafayette Baptist Church, Newcomerstown Elks Lodge, Coshocton AMVETS and V.F.W. 2040. He is survived by his sons Allen (Dixie) McCormick of West Lafayette, Carl (Mary) McCormick of St. Louis and Robert (Johnna) McCormick of West Lafayette; daughters Janet (Jim) Harstine of Warsaw and Carol (Dean) Wears of West Lafayette; step daughters Monta Papadopoulos and Carol Pegg both of Canton; eight grandchildren; several step grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Along with his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Shirley Couts McCormick who passed away in 1955; brothers, Leland, Carl, Russell, Harold "Jack" and Lyndle McCormick. Friends may call at the First Baptist Church of West Lafayette, 688 E. Main St., West Lafayette on Friday March 23, 2012 from 5-8 PM where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 PM with Pastor David Kraft officiating. Interment will follow in Fairfield Cemetery with Coshocton County Veterans Council performing military honors. The Miller Funeral Home, Coshocton is serving the family.
