Life Legacy
Rupert Russell, beloved husband of Sheila B. Russell died peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and children, Christopher (Susan) Russell, Anne (Kevin Freed) Russell and Mary Trudy Callaghan on Friday November 25, 2011 two days after celebrating his 56th wedding anniversary. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 30, 1927 to Kathryn (Rupert) and Guy Russell. After the premature death of his father in 1932, he worked setting pins in a local bowling alley at age 13 to help support his family during the Great Depression and enrolled in the U.S. Navy prior to his high school graduation to serve his country during WWII. With the help of the G. I. Bill he graduated from Duquesne University in 1950 and spent the majority of his career as a metallurgist working for Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Division in Bridgeville, PA before transferring to their Coshocton Plant in 1967. He was an avid golfer, talented gardener and cook. He enjoyed spending the winter months on Amelia Island with his wife and family. In recent years he was a passionate student and proponent of conservative politics and a frequent contributor to the editorial pages of local publications. As well his children and wife, Rupert leaves five grandchildren; Jonah and Brigid Freed and Meghan, Bridget and Derinne Callaghan. He was predeceased by his beloved sister Mary Jane Russell (Flood) and is survived by his siblings Guy and Sally. Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Wednesday November 30, 2011 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM where a memorial service will start at 11:00 AM with Deacon Andy Duda officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Health Services of Coshocton County (Hospice), P.O. Box 1284, Coshocton, Ohio 43812.
