Sam Edward Ashman

January 24, 1939 — January 27, 2019

Samuel “Sam” Ashman, 80, of Coshocton passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019 at his home.  He was born in Coshocton on January 24, 1939 to the late Raymond C. and Betty June (White) Ashman.

Sam worked for the Coshocton City Fire Department for 26 years before retiring and he was also an Ace Certified Personal Trainer to many Coshocton residents. In his spare time he loved deer hunting, arrowhead hunting and riding his bicycle.

He is survived by his wife, Cathryn (Spangler)Ashman, whom he married August 27, 1980; children Kim Truman of Tarpon Springs, Florida, Tawnya (Russ) Whitehead of Delray Beach, Fla, Tamara (Marc) Strelitz of Boca Raton, Fla, Wendy (Randy Gray) Miskimens of Daytona Beach, Fla, Brad (Rebecca) Miskimens of Boca Raton, Fla.; Grandchildren Teri and Rusty Whitehead of Delray Beach, Fla, Alexandra, Marc Jr, Tiffany Strelitz all of Boca Raton, Fla, Elizabeth Truman of Tarpon Springs, Fla, Hannah (Matt Shook) Taylor of Bollivar, Ohio, Jordan (Riccilyn)Taylor of West Lafayette, Ohio, Leah Wilson of West Lafayette, Ohio, Rebecca (Brian Mashburn) Taylor of Daytona Beach, Fla, Chris St. Clair of Coshocton, Ohio; 10 Great Grandchildren; brother Ron (Sharon) Ashman of Coshocton, Ohio.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his son Randy Ashman; grandson Jason Downy; and sister Sue (Gary) Thomas.

Per Sam’s wishes a cremation will take place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.  The Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Coshocton is serving the family.  An online memorial is located at www.themillerfuneralhome.com
