Samuel J. Appis, 85, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday January 19, 2018 with his family by his side. Sam was born in Coshocton on December 17, 1932 to the late Samuel and Anna (Uher) Appis.
He retired from AK Steel after twenty seven years of service. On August 3, 1956 he married Shirley A. (Haver) Appis who survives. Sam was an avid woodworker and enjoyed fixing cars, he was a man of many talents. He loved designing and creating all sorts of projects for friends and family. He and his wife also owned and operated S & S Woodcrafts and spent many years attending shows and events.
Sam is survived by his wife Shirley; son Sam (Annette) Appis of Coshocton; daughter Christina Tallichet of Coshocton; grandchildren Katie (Paolo) Hilj, Emilee (Jason) Berwanger, Chase Dyer, Tucker Tallichet and Grace James; great grandchildren Anthony, Leo, Knox and Vivian; a sister Jane Gadfield of Coshocton; several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his two sisters Frances Walker and Betty Dillon and an infant brother.
A graveside memorial service will be held in Coshocton County Memorial Gardens on Saturday January 27, 2018 at 2:30 PM with Pastor Bill Jones officiating.
Sam’s family would like to invite family and friends to also join them directly following the graveside services at the M Event Center, 24688 CR 10, Coshocton for a time of food, fellowship and celebrating Sam’s life.
