Scott Matthew Elder, 64, of West Lafayette passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 19, 1960 in Coshocton to the late Robert Raymond Elder Sr. and Nora Marie (Guinther) Fry, who survives. He was a United State Army Veteran, having served from 1980-1982. He worked various jobs throughout his life, he spent most of his time at the New York Deli as the butcher. On September 1, 2002, he married Tami (Bebout) Elder, who survives. In his free time, he enjoyed the slow pace of fishing, never in a rush for a big catch. He watched golf, racing, and baseball, cheering on the Tribe. He enjoyed photography in his period of working for the Tribune. Most of all, Scott loved his family and he was excellent at showing his love for them. He was always in tune with them and provided a hug, a laugh or quality time when they needed it. It's the small and big moments of laughter he brought to their lives that will always remember.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Adam Elder, Kayla (Ethan Taylor) Oswalt and Shawna Moore; grandchildren, Caden Elder, Zain Clark, Lilith Oswalt, Kory Taylor, Elise Albaugh and Caine Albaugh; siblings, Jan Elder, Paula (Jeff) Rowlands, Mary (Dick) McCune, Luke (Sheri) Elder and Linda (Jim) McConnell.
Along with his father, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Elder Jr. and Curt Elder.
Per his wishes, a cremation will take place with The Miller Funeral Home and Crematory.
