Thania Lennos Vlahos

Thania Lennos Vlahos, age 83, of Coshocton, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born on March 21, 1939, in Youngstown, Ohio. She was the daughter of John G. and Kathryn L. (Glaros) Lennos. On June 4, 1961, she married Nicholas Vlahos; the couple had one son, Athan Vlahos, who survives his mother.

Mrs. Vlahos graduated from Boardman High School in Boardman, Ohio in 1957. She earned a B.S. in Education from Muskingum College in 1961. She later earned a Masters of Science in Education from the College of Mt. Saint Josephs in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Mrs. Vlahos taught first grade at the old Lincoln school from 1961 to 1967. She then returned to the Coshocton City Schools as a special education teacher in 1975 and tutored special education students in all the Coshocton City Schools until her retirement in 2006. She then continued to work as a special education tutor during the 2007 school year as well.

She was a member of the Junior Women’s Club, Trirosis Club, and the Coshocton Retired Teachers Organization, as well as a member of various bridge clubs throughout her life. Thania loved to read, play bridge, and entertain. She was especially known for her talents in cooking Greek foods such as Pastitso, Grape Leaves and Spinach Pie.

In addition to her son, she is survived by a sister, Antonia K. (Toni) Johnson and brother-in-law, Robert T. Timmons Sr.; a niece and Goddaughter, Lisa K. (Brian) Macklin of Pataskala, Ohio; a step-granddaughter, Felicia M. Brown; a grand-niece, Erin Macklin; many cousins and special friends, Andrea Berry, Debbie Bible, Carol Broadwater, Debbie Daugherty, Katie Barrick, and Paula Duling.

Friends may call on Tuesday March 14, 2023, from 11:00 Am to 1:00 Pm at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main Street, Coshocton, Ohio where funeral services will begin at 1:00 Pm with the Reverend Father Spiro Kehayes of St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Massillon, Ohio officiating.

Entombment will follow in Coshocton County Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
